Q. I yearn to break my steady habit of viewing porn. My problem is that my job and livelihood are totally dependent on the internet - I build websites. I am online all day. When the urge suddenly arises, it is so easy to lose control and click one or two clicks to my eyeballs' desire. The reading on JewishSexuality.com helps me to sometimes push off the urge once or twice, but sometime later, I succumb. I feel totally stuck.

A.  Rabbi Mann answers: Sometimes a person has no choice but to make a drastic life change in order to save himself from certain disaster. If you don't feel that you have the wherewithal to kick the habit, and if you understand that it is something that is interfering in your life, your relation to family and your relation to Hashem, then perhaps you should change jobs. If you have succeeded at your present occupation, you can certainly succeed in some other that doesn't demand constant exposure to the Internet. Give it some honest thought. Chazak v'amatz.

Note: The webmaster suggests Accountability Software for such situations. If this still doesn't help one regain control, then we would agree with Rabbi Mann.
